What We're All About
The Happy Shepherd String Quartet was formed in August 2015, joining together for the Chamber Music class at the University of Ottawa. After only a few rehearsals, the group soon realized that they had a special chemistry as artists and as people.
Each member of the quartet brings to the table their own background in classical music, as well as improvisation from various genres of rock, jazz, and fiddle. This combination of honed skills allows for greater flexibility in their repertoire, while adding richer flavors to their classical playing as well. The members of the Happy Shepherd Quartet are also heavily involved in education and outreach in the Ottawa community. Through their experience in education, their diverse improvisational backgrounds, and their charismatic communication style, the group provides has provided engaging and excellent musical experiences for audiences of all ages. Through these skills, the group strives to engage deeply in the communicative and the communal aspects of music as a central part of their process. |
